Dear neighborhood council board members,
We want to be sure you are aware of the following so you can participate and also share the information with your communities:
Public Bank LA Sunday, October 12
The Sustainability Alliance has long been a supporter of the public bank effort, which is gaining legs and councilmember support! Come join us this Sunday, October 12 to learn how a public bank in Los Angeles could help our sustainability efforts and what we need to do to bring one here to LA. Learn more and RSVP at ncsa.la/public_bank_la_10-12_
Lawn to Habitat applications open!
After a successful Lawn to Habitat project in Leimert Park with our many volunteers and partner organizations and a second one in Palms, we want to do it again! If you live in, own, or are otherwise connected to a multi-family residential property in the city of Los Angeles with a grass lawn and would like to see it converted to a 100% California-native plant yard with water capture features, this could be your opportunity. Visit ncsa.la/lawn_to_habitat_call to learn more, and please spread the word! The application deadline is November 15.
Tomorrow, Together Saturday, November 1
We are partnering with LA Climate Week to bring you Tomorrow, Together, a unique opportunity for us to collaborate on climate solutions to be held at the Ebell of Los Angeles Saturday, November 1. Learn more and RSVP here.
Seeking committee chairs
We are looking for a committee co-chair for our energy committee and a chair for our advocacy committee (a catch-all committee for advocacy topics not covered by our other committees). We are looking for people who are passionate about these issues, willing to get well versed in them (if not already), and who have some time to devote. If you are interested or even just curious, please contact:
for energy, AJ Waters at [email protected]
for advocacy, Lisa Hart at [email protected]
Thank you, and hope to see you soon–
