LA Community Heat Survey

Posted on 03/01/23

Sunland-Tujunga Community Council

Have you noticed that the heat season in Los Angeles is bringing hotter days and longer heatwaves? Do you wish to share your ideas and preferences on how to help LA stand against extreme heat?
The City of LA's Climate Emergency Mobilization Office is working to develop a Heat Action Plan to prepare for hotter days in LA, especially for disadvantaged communities. Our group of UCLA researchers is helping CEMO to collect community opinions for the Plan. We believe that your neighborhood council representatives and community members represent highly vulnerable communities to heat in LA and we would like to include your perspectives in our report. If you wish to have a say in the City's plan, we would appreciate it if you could take and share this survey with your community as soon as possible (eg: in a newsletter, community-wide email, bulletin board, group chat, Facebook group etc). An English and Spanish flyer are attached to this email. Participants who fill out the survey will also be entered into a raffle to win a giftcard between $25-$100

Posted on 02/21/23

Sunland-Tujunga Community Council

In 2005, a proposal for a 200+ luxury gated housing development called 'Canyon Hills' was approved by LA City Council, based on a woefully inadequate Environmental Impact Report conducted in 2003. Even back then, the project was controversial for its sweeping destruction of the Verdugo Mountains in Tujunga.
