It’s been an honor serving as your Mayor over the past three weeks, which I have spent taking clear and direct action to bring our unhoused neighbors inside.
On my first day in office, I didn’t start the morning at City Hall
On Tuesday, Mayor Bass provided testimony at the Board of Supervisors meeting in favor of Chair Hahn's motion to support the City's emergency declaration and better align County resources with the City's response. The Board of Supervisors voted to install a representative of the County CEO as a Deputy Director in the City's official command structure at the Emergency Operations Center. This deep partnership will dramatically accelerate and enhance our work to save lives at a true inflection point in Los Angeles.
►► The audience of about 30 was honored to host so many LAPD personnel officers and executives:
Foothill's new Capt. Marco Lozano and Capt. Jeff Hollis; Sunland's new Senior Lead Officer (SLO) Diana Figueroa; Valley Traffic Officer Joel Flores; Head of Foothill Community Relations Sgt Jesse Ojeda; Cmdr. Valley Bureau Craig Valenzuela, and from downtown Assistant Chief Alan Hamilton.
Karen Bass is the 43rd Mayor of Los Angeles and the first woman and second African American to be elected as the city's chief executive. With an agenda focused on bringing urgency, accountability, and a new direction to Los Angeles, she will start her term with a focus on housing people immediately and increasing safety and opportunity in every part of Los Angeles.
